SRRV Guide
Retire in the Philippines With the SRRV
A plain guide to the Special Resident Retiree's Visa for retirees from the United States, Japan, Australia and other countries. Learn who can apply, what the steps are, and how Bambu Harmony Living can help.
What is the SRRV?
The Special Resident Retiree's Visa (SRRV) is a special non-immigrant visa. The Bureau of Immigration issues it through the Philippine Retirement Authority (PRA). It lets retirees enter, stay and live in the Philippines.
Many retirees choose the Philippines for its warm weather, its friendly people and its lower cost of living. The SRRV gives them one visa for a long stay.
Who can apply?
The main SRRV categories start at age 50. Some categories accept applicants from age 40 with a higher deposit. Your spouse and your unmarried children who are under 21 years old can join your application as dependants.
PRA offers more than one category, including Classic and Courtesy. The deposit, the pension rule and the fees are different for each one.
What does it cost?
The SRRV has a visa deposit, an application fee and an annual fee. The amounts depend on your age, your category and whether you receive a pension. PRA changes them from time to time, so we do not print them here. Read the current schedule on the PRA website.
The Process
How to Apply, Step by Step
- 1
Choose a category
PRA offers several SRRV categories, including Classic and Courtesy. The right one depends on your age, your nationality and whether you receive a pension.
- 2
Check the requirements
Read the age, pension and deposit rules for your category on the PRA website. If you are not sure, ask PRA or our team.
- 3
Collect your documents
PRA lists the documents you must give with your application. Start early, because some documents take time to get.
- 4
Apply and pay the fees
Send your application to PRA and pay the application fee.
- 5
Place your visa deposit
PRA asks for a visa deposit. Follow the order of steps that PRA gives you.
- 6
Receive your visa
After PRA approves your application, the Bureau of Immigration issues your SRRV through PRA.
PRA sets the exact requirements and the order of steps. Always check the PRA website before you apply.
